10 Ants Jewellery hand crafting bespoke couture jewellery since 1978.
‘When designing and crafting pieces by hand, you are only limited by your imagination.’
~ Shane Tennant
Shane Tennant discovered his passion for Jewellery at just 15 years old, at which point he began his studies in the heart of Melbourne. Over the course of his education Shane studied under Italian craftsmen to learn the finest techniques in high Jewellery.
In his early life Shane was struck with a need to discover more about the industry, this led him to embark upon a trip around Australia. This trip which spanned 3 years saw Shane cross paths with an array of miners, from Opal to Sapphire, Ruby and Jade. His keen eye for quality, unique designs and experience with hand crafting high Jewellery led to him becoming the exclusive Jeweller to many of Australia’s leading gemstone miners. As one can imagine during this time he was fortunate enough to work on some of the most exquisite gemstones. The experience he gained during this period allow Shane to work on rare gemstones such as pieces of Opal in ways no other Jeweller is able to.
Almost two decades ago Shane received his qualifications in Gemmology, Diamond grading and valuing. This investment in further education has provided him with the ability to chemically and compositionally understand gemstones. Most importantly though through the combination of his experience in the gem fields working with raw and cut material, and his qualifications Shane only sources the finest gemstones to be set into 10 Ants high Jewellery pieces.
It was a proud moment when Shane welcomed his daughter Jasmine into the company. Whilst she will continue to learn from her father for many years, Jasmine has brought with her an injection of energy and creativity. Having studied art and language, like her father she is inspired by the world and its hidden gems.
